Snow place like Kerry

Now if I were to ask you what the above picture was of I’m fairly sure I’d be hearing ’snow’ as the answer. But – no word of a lie – it’s not! Amazingly enough this is a picture of sea foam on Coumeenole Strand, Co.Kerry (of Ryan’s Daughter fame).  I have never ever seen a sight quite like this – in fact the foam was so white it was staining the rocks. As the tide washed in and out it looked like the sea was made of milk or white paint. Incredible. Sleigh Head is one of my most favourite places in the world – there’s always something inspiring to see whatever the weather and on the 27th of December the sea was certainly pounding the cliffs for all it was worth creating this fascinating sight. Not quite sure what exactly was going on so if anyone can explain why this foam was so much whiter and thicker than normal I’d love to know. You can see more pictures of the foam and others of Kerry in December here

and here’s a (bad quality) video I made of it
