Just back from a great weekend in Liverpool with Coen visiting my friend Siobhan. On Sunday we went to Crosby beach where Antony Gormley’s Another Place installation is currently to be seen. It’s quite a bizarre sight when you land on the beach and gaze around. If you weren’t particularly looking for it you’d hardly notice but when you do you’ll see 100 cast-iron figures dotted about the beach at various intervals. Some might be submeregd or semi-submerged in the incoming tide, others may be half covered in sand far from the water- all depends on the time of day and tides etc. It really is a fabulous idea – it’s kind of thrilling and eerie at the same time – needless to say I loved it and it’s well worth checking out.
We also went on the Magical Mystery Tour (my second time hehe) on a bus just like the famous one from the Beatles film Magical Mystery Tour. It’s a two hour trip around Liverpool visiting Beatles related places like each of their boyhood houses, Brian Epstein’s house, The Cavern, Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane ……. The magic in this particular tour though is that the guide himself is like something from a Beatles film – Liverpool wit at its best – really dry! You get lots of personal anecdotes and stories about the beatles that you really won’t hear anywhere else. You’ll spend most of the ride laughing. Oh and did you know that John and Paul first met at a Garden Fete on Saturday July 6th, 1957 at Woolton Parish Church – not all that interesting you might think. What is incredibly strange though is that in the graveyard next to the church is the grave of an Eleanor Rigby – something that The Beatles only found out after their song Eleanor Rigby was released. Strange coincidence or what!

OOh, I LOVE that beach… thing idea!
Sounds cool. Great pics!
